Harriet Monroe’s “Hope”  is a rallying force in the face of our darkest moments—when everything we depend on seems to crumble. Rather than offering false comfort, Monroe acknowledges this reality and the temptation to surrender. She then reminds us that hope is not about denying present suffering, but about trusting the light at the end of the tunnel. In times when our world is falling apart, holding onto hope becomes both an act of courage and a form of faith in the larger rhythms of renewal that govern our human experience. I set this text to an adamant groove, invoking the steady resolve of putting one foot in front of the other.
